Aaron Freeman & Sandy Shea Bogan add Ray Hanania and Debbie Sue Goodman to a Comedians for Hurricane Relief in Chicago
Comedians Aaron Freeman and Sandy Shea Bogan organized a Comedians for Hurricane Relief performance on Tuesday Sept. 13 at the Improv Olympic. They invited me and I helped them get Debbie Sue Goodman, a comedian who I have performed with and who also does impersonations. The Improv Olympic is located one block from Wrigley Field and of course, there was a big game that night with the Cubs, but we still managed on short notice to get 50 people to come out for the special, last minute show with the four of us. Aaron did some riffs on the hurricane, Debbie Sue did her comedy based on her book "Still Single Girl" and some impersonations, I did my Arab-Jewish comedy and Sandy did humor about being a woman and everyday life. The audience was asked to bring a bag of clothes to donate to the needy . They turned my bag of donations away, though, and insisted I give money. Well, they didn't think anyone down in New Orleans would find any use for three kiffeyehs, and four berqas, even though I said the berqas were only used once (by four wives) and are made up of the highest quality burlap. Oh well. |
